Pattern Steps & Instructions
Pattern Steps & Instructions
Pattern Builder automatically turns your completed design into a sequence of step-by-step wrapping instructions based on the logical construction order of the pattern.
Pattern Steps let you preview that construction directly in the Builder before generating the finished instructions as a PDF.
The instructions build progressively, showing how the pattern should appear as each stage of the construction is completed.
Viewing Pattern Steps
Where to find it: Pattern Steps is located on the left tool rail.
Pattern Builder automatically generates the logical construction steps for your pattern based on how the design was built.
Open Pattern Steps to preview those instructions directly in the Builder workspace. Select a step to see the pattern as it should appear at that stage of construction, including the corresponding thread colors and directional arrows.
The instructions build progressively. Each step shows the pattern through that point in the construction so you can follow how the finished design comes together.
Reading a Pattern Step
Each Pattern Step provides the information needed for that stage of the build, including the type of element being placed, the quantity or placement direction when applicable, and the thread color or colors being used.
Directional arrows appear with the corresponding step to help show the direction in which the threads should be placed.
Generating Pattern Instructions
When you're ready to create a printable version of the instructions, click Generate PDF in the upper-right toolbar.
Choose where you want to save the file, enter a file name, and click Save. Pattern Builder creates a PDF containing the finished pattern information and the step-by-step construction instructions.
The generated PDF includes the thread colors used, the overall pattern measurement, and the construction steps needed to build the pattern.
